your reading, your privacy.
a clear look at what Read keeps, why it needs it, and the choices that stay yours.
who looks after your data
Read is a personal reading app operated by Siddharth Pandro in India. This policy covers the Read app and this website. For privacy questions or requests, contact notcodesid@gmail.com.
We use information to run your account, save your reading, provide subscriptions, and respond when you ask for help.
what Read handles
- Account information. Sign in with Apple provides an app-specific identifier and, when available and shared, your name and email or Apple relay address. Read does not receive your Apple password.
- Your profile. Your chosen name, bio, interests, and optional profile photo are stored to personalize your account. Apple does not provide a profile photo; you choose whether to add one.
- Your reading. Saved article links and content, bookmarks, highlights, notes, reading progress, preferences, and reading statistics are stored on your device. When cloud sync is available and used, your reading data is also stored on our backend to restore or sync your library.
- Subscription information. Apple processes payment. RevenueCat receives purchase records, product identifiers, subscription status, and an app user identifier to verify Read Pro access and restore purchases. We do not receive your full card details.
- Support and technical information. If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and anything you attach. Our hosting and service providers process connection details such as IP addresses and technical logs to deliver and protect the services.
photos, reminders, and focus
Adding a photo is optional. The photo you select can be stored on your device and uploaded to your account’s profile storage. Read does not upload your entire photo library.
Reading Focus asks for Apple’s Screen Time permission. The native focus feature stores your selected apps, categories, or websites as Apple’s opaque selection tokens on the device and uses them to apply restrictions during a session. These selection tokens are not uploaded to our profile or reading database.
If you enable reading reminders, Read asks for notification permission. You can change permissions in iOS Settings and end a focus session in Read.
the services behind Read
- Apple provides Sign in with Apple, App Store payments, TestFlight, and Screen Time.
- Supabase stores account/profile data and synchronized reading data, stores uploaded profile photos, and runs article extraction services.
- RevenueCat verifies purchases and manages subscription entitlements.
- Cloudflare hosts this website.
When you import an article, its URL is sent to our extraction service, which requests the source website. Public article content may be cached separately from your account. Visiting external article links or sharing an export also involves the service you choose.
Providers may process data outside your country. Their own privacy policies also apply to their services: Apple, Supabase, RevenueCat, and Cloudflare.
keeping and removing information
We keep account and reading data while it is needed to provide the service. You can edit your profile, remove saved items, or request account deletion inside Read. See account deletion instructions.
Account deletion removes your account-linked profile, uploaded profile photo, and reading data through our deletion process, and clears Read’s local account data on the device used to delete it. Copies on other devices, exported files, provider backups, and records that must be retained for legal, payment, or security purposes may remain. Public article caches are separate from your personal library.
Apple and RevenueCat may retain transaction records under their own policies. Deleting your Read account does not cancel an App Store subscription.
your choices and rights
You can change your name and photo, edit your interests, manage permissions, export highlights and notes, and delete your account in the app. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, or object to certain processing. Email notcodesid@gmail.com to make a request; we may need to verify account ownership. You may also contact your local data protection authority.
Read’s current website does not add advertising pixels or marketing analytics cookies. Hosting providers may use technical logs or security mechanisms. Read is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has supplied personal information, contact us.
We will update the date on this page when this policy changes and provide additional notice where required.
